Date: 2021
Location: Dauan Island, Torres Strait, Queensland, Australia

About This Project
The Challenge
The community on Dauan Island is reliant on marine access to and from the island. Torres Strait Islands Regional Council needed an options assessment for a DDA-compliant, all-tide access pontoon.
The Solution
ICM was commissioned to investigate options for the pontoon, assessing a variety of configurations, dredging, breakwaters and alternative approaches. The assessment covered a review of site environmental conditions, all-tide access and DDA compliance constraints, costing options, and design drawings - considering the site's design challenges to present recommendations for an effective pontoon solution.
