About This Project

The Challenge

Hideaway Resorts needed 26 swing moorings installed across two islands in accordance with Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) requirements.

The Solution

ICM, in partnership with Marine Civil Contractors, undertook a design-and-construct project across three locations on the two islands. A new mooring design was developed for various vessel sizes, including a vessel-specific design and stability assessment and evaluation of the mooring layout to provide an efficient arrangement for each location. The final design and layout was certified by a registered engineer and approved by GBRMPA.

ICM and Marine Civil Contractors then provisioned and installed the new moorings, positioned within accuracy limits using RTK GPS. In total, 26 new swing moorings were installed, with RPEQ-certified as-constructed drawings provided on completion.
